Choosing the Right Entry Doors for Your Tuscaloosa AL Home

A replacement door is not only a stylish enhancement but also provides security, energy efficiency, and increased home value. The right door will also withstand the demands of the Tuscaloosa climate.

Fiberglass doors offer a significant style upgrade, with superior insulation compared to steel options. Featuring designs from top brands such as Masonite and Therma-Tru, these doors are available in a wide array of styles.

Metal Doors & Frames

An attractive front door makes a positive first impression on guests and adds value to your home. In fact, homeowners believe an exterior renovation that includes a new entry door is one of the best investments they can make.

MPI offers a full range of steel doors and frames that meet industry specification standards set by SDI (Steel Door Institute) and the HMMA division of NAAMM. Our insulated steel entry doors are designed to keep heat and cooled air inside your home where it belongs.

Fiberglass doors are a popular option for homeowners in our Gulf Coast climate. They withstand weather conditions and offer a modern look with customizable options such as window designs and interior insulation to boost energy efficiency. Designed by quality suppliers like Therma-Tru, fiberglass doors are highly durable and can be painted or stained for added style. They also resist cracking, denting and rusting. We also offer solid core wood doors and commercial hollow metal doors for a variety of interior and exterior applications including fire rated glass and metal vision lites.

Stainless Steel Doors & Frames

Stainless steel doors are often preferred in harsh environments for their durability and corrosion resistance. They outlast galvanized and carbon steel doors and are available in fire-rated versions. They also offer a wide range of customization options including custom sizing, glass, and vision lites.

Designed and built to the highest standards, they are ideal for high style industrial environments. They’re pleasing to the eye, corrosion resistant, hygienic and fire-resistant. They’re frequently used in water treatment plants, coast guard facilities, marine environments, pools rooms, labs and food & beverage industries.

Stainless steel doors are offered in traditional stainless and in clad stainless with a number of color options. Finishes include satin (#4 grained), mirror (#8) and mill finish (2B). Fire-labeled products are available in single and pairs and have been tested in accordance with NFPA-80 and UL-10C. Finished products are certified by Underwriters Laboratories and Warnock Hersey International. All metals are susceptible to rusting and corrosion if not maintained correctly, so regular cleaning is important.

Solid Core Wood Doors

Solid wood doors are made of a single, unified piece of natural wood and offer many benefits from durability to sound-blockage. They can also be customized with custom carvings or design alterations to create a door that is unique and bespoke.

Hollow core doors are typically framed with a honeycombed inner material and glued over by wood veneers to make them more affordable than solid wood. They are lightweight and easy to install, making them an excellent choice for the many interior passage doors found in a typical home. They provide little in the way of fire resistance and don’t insulate very well, but they are very inexpensive.

They are not a good option for security, however, as they can be easily broken down or shattered if hit with enough force. They are also not suitable for connecting garages to attached accessory dwelling units, as a heavier, fire-rated door is required. Likewise, they should never be used between an interior living space and the outdoors, as they are prone to warping when exposed to humidity changes.

Fire-Rated Glass & Metal Vision Lites

Fire-rated glass prevents the spread of flames and smoke, and depending on product makeup, reduces radiant and conductive heat transfer. It can also offer full vision for daylighting, wayfinding and security purposes. It is not recommended that standard decorative treatments such as custom etching or sandblasting be applied to fire-rated doors. These treatments may compromise their life safety and fire rating performance.

TGP offers multiple options for fire-rated doors and frames including insulated fiberglass, aluminum clad and stainless steel clad selections. Frames are formed using an extrusion-like process, resulting in thin profiles with well defined edges and vertical-to-horizontal framing joints without visible weld beads or fasteners. This design allows for a closer match to conventional aluminum framing systems in interior one-hour and exterior two-hour corridor walls and partitions.

Glass and window lites are available in clear, obscure, and designer options. Pilkington Pyrostop and Fireglass 20 are available as fire-rated glazing. These glazings offer transparency, clarity and a warmer earth tone that reduces the blue green tint of typical float glass.
